Yeah! I finally finished Little Molly’s baby blanket ~ only 5 months after she was born!
Better late than never huh? It’s a basic garter stitch in three colored rows. Once I got it to the length I wanted, I bound off and crocheted an edge around it. This is the first time I have edged anything so it is not perfect ~ but hey ~ it was made with love! Here is the link to my Ravelry page for it! All I need to do now is wash and possibly block it. I hope Little Molly enjoys it!

Ok, so my husband and I go out of town to visit our best friends in California. It’s my 40th birthday, we had won free Delta tickets at my office Christmas party and we have not been away together without the kids in I couldn’t tell you how long. We leave on the Tuesday before my birthday (Jan 24th) and come home on Sunday the 25th. When I left I had a job ~ when I got home I find out Sunday evening that two of my close friends were “laid off” ~ one being our HR Manager. How weird is that? Well, I knew from the knot in my stomach that I was probably going to get “the talk” on Monday. Sure enough, it happened. I barely got in the door and I was being routed to a conference room with my separation papers. Lack of work was sited on the form although I stayed busy non-stop ~ but apparenlty the company lost a few projects, lost a bit of money and put some other projects on hold. I was surprised but not surprised as I had been through some turmoil a few months earlier. And not due to me being a slacker at work or bad at my job ~ just some transition stuff. My 7th anniversary would have been April 3rd of this year with the company. I would have liked to have made it to 7 or 10 or more. I am faithful to my employer(s). I know most most of them were sorry to have to let me go or see me go (since I would sing for them everyday), but one never really knows!
Anyway, I have not let the lack of a job stress me out (and I am going to file for unemployment this week). At least my husband still has his job, and a good one at that. He has medical insurance that the kids and I will get on (since we were all on mine since it is so much better), but no dental or vision. But hey, it is still more than what quite a few others out there have. I am going to enjoy being a stay at home mom for the time being while I look for another job. I/we are hoping that if/when I do find a new job, that it will be much closer to home. I was commuting 35 miles (about an hour) each way, and buying gas once a week, plus finding a place to park, plus not being near my kids when they needed me, plus $135 a week in daycare….whew…..and now all that goes away.
So, I guess I can look at the glass half full and continue to look at all the positives. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me – either I find another decent job sometimes in the future OR we can somehow manage for me to be a stay at home mom for as long as my sanity holds out! Xanax….stay close!
